Let's get cricket back to Torr Park

The Friends of Torr Park Group is now active again under the umbrella of EVPA. Its mission is to work with the Council to improve the Park for all users.

If you have any ideas that will help this ambition please leave a comment.

Flooding Ouside Holly Cottage

We are advised that at last the Water Company (United Utilities?) has indentified the cause of the flooding outside Holly Cottage in Eastham Village.

Tree roots were almost completely blocking the surface water sewers but these have now been cut away and removed. Hopefully this will mean no more abandoned vehicles left in the centtre of the road as happened to this poor driver recently.

Fallen Tree

Yesterday’s high winds brought down trees and branches all over Wirral. This included a tree that blocked Eastham Village Road for a while. The fire brigade eventually removed it and the road was reopened. At least it kept traffic speeds below the legal 20 mph limit!

Churchyard Wall – work to start

A section of the churchyard wall in Eastham

September 15th is the date scheduled for work to start on stabilising the wall around Eastham Churchyard. The wall was built in about 1860 to contain the made-up ground section of the extended churchyard. As it is an important feature of the Conservation Area lime mortar will be used and the original sandstone blocks careful cleaned and replaced in their original positions. A recent collapse of a section of the wall after recent heavy rains has made the measures urgent.

Permission granted

An application to fell a multi-stemmed Ash tree to the rear of Sheila’s Cottage, 5, Hall Farm Stanley Lane, Eastham, has been approved.   The council reference is No CA/23/01203

It is a self-set that has grown to approx. 15ft and is lifting the pavement and could possibly be damaging the bungalow.

There were no objections.
