The Eastham Wombles

The Eastham Wombles is our volunteer litter-picking team, helping to keep the village clean, welcoming and well cared for.
Even small amounts of litter can quickly diminish the appearance of a place and undermine the pride residents take in their surroundings. While the Council provides regular cleansing services, there are times and locations where litter accumulates between scheduled visits.
Volunteers organise informal sessions as required, responding to areas that need attention. Under the watchful eye of the Chief Womble, a couple of hours’ collective effort can make an immediate and visible difference.
Why It Matters
- Maintaining pride in the village environment
- Protecting the appearance of the Conservation Area
- Supporting Council services where needed
- Demonstrating practical community care
Sessions operate on an “as required” basis. New volunteers are always welcome, even for occasional participation.
