Floral Eastham

Floral Eastham began around 2010, when one of our members suggested a simple idea: brighten the village with a few hanging baskets. That small start has grown into one of EVPA’s most visible and well-loved projects.
Today we install and maintain around 30 baskets along Stanley Lane, Church Lane and Eastham Village Road. These are no longer just traditional baskets — many are now larger 18-inch half containers, giving a fuller, longer-lasting display throughout the season.
Keeping everything looking its best takes real effort. Two volunteer watering teams, each using an electric water bowser, make regular rounds to water and feed the plants so they stay healthy and vibrant.
Floral Eastham is also a significant annual cost. We now raise around £1,000 each year to purchase the displays from Follyfield Nursery, who do an excellent job supplying high-quality plants and arrangements.
In addition, the project has expanded to include spring bulb planting across the village, with daffodils and tulips bringing colour to key areas each year. Over the last two years alone, volunteers have planted more than 10,000 bulbs.
